Hi I’m Matt….
aka TurnerTek!
Join me in all my modern and retro adventures in TEK, Gaming, and a little bit of everything else.
TEK
Get to Know Me!
Been TEKing it up since 1987
Ever since I was little I have been into TEK. Some of my youngest pics are me and my brother with our NES. Been a long journey but never have I lost the love for the TEK! Now it’s time for me to share all of those experiences with you!
Level 1
Gaming
Having just missed the 80’s TEK I was full blown a Nintendo kid. Gaming is what got me hooked into TEK. I was the kid that took the Gameboy apart before I played the game. Would drive my mom nuts!
Level 2
AOL
America was getting online when I was a kid and I jumped in on the action. We always had a computer in the house I grew up in . I never forget waiting for Mom to hang up the phone so you could hear those magical beeps and boops. Then jump on Alta Vista to find some new cheat codes for the ole Game Genie.
Level 3
My First PC
Don’t remember much about it but this, it was one of those PCs that wanted to be like a make so it had some bondi blue plastic on the bottom of the front cover and the hard drive exploded in it. This lead me down a path that ended with Red Hat Linux. I was sold for life. TEK was now a permanent part of who I am.
Level 4
First Job in Tek
To say I was in over my head would be an understatement. I found my self in an IT Directors role with nearly zero hours in Windows Server. Avoiding near disaster one after another, I quickly became the Network engineer I am today!
Level 5
TODAY!
In a large plot twist I am a Media & Communications Director that also oversee all IT services. Now its time to include you on my journey. Teach you what I know. Grow with you. And maybe learn a few new things along the way. Doesn’t matter if it is retro or modern, computers or game console, marketing strategies or How To Vids, or me just sharing my thoughts on life; sub, follow, or whatever it is you do these days. Let’s TEK Together!
The TEK in TurnerTek
So, elephant in the room, I have the world’s most common name. One year at summer camp it was called over the loudspeaker that “Matt Turner has a phone call at the office.” Yeah, seven of us showed up. Finding a screen name or an email address has always been a challenge. That is where TurnerTek came from! In 2020 everyone was making content and during a jam session getting ready for a LAN party with the BOIZ it just kinda came out in convo. So, yes I know its not the right spelling…it’s the best spelling! TEK!
